Clean Halls, Mowed Lawns, Trimmed Bushes, Fixed Lockers - A Day's Work sa' Mr. Marvin Flora 82 4 Q it Cleaning door windows is a never-ending chore for Shirley Phillips. Keeping Kellam clean is one of the main duties of the custodial staff. Many times a day the cleaning ladies, Mrs. Minnie McCoy and Mrs. Shirley Phillips, are seen by Kellam students and teachers in the halls with cleaning cloths, brooms, and supplies fulfilling their duties. Mr. Martin W. Flora and his staff, which also includes Mr. William Davis and Mr. Iunious Archer, also keep the lawns mowed and the bushes pruned and trimmed, refuel the buses, sweep the halls, do minor repairs such as unjamming lockers for students, replacing broken windows, and burned- out lights, and many other things which make Kellam a more pleasant, efficient, and effective place for teachers and students to work in. At 3:29 in the afternnon as Kellam students are calling it a day, the custodial staff has hardly begun theirs, for now they must clean and prepare the school for the students' arrival the next day. Often this means staying late at night to clean and lock up after concerts or plays.
