IV Cheerleaders Sell This year, Iunior Varsity Cheerleaders faithfully attended IV athletic events in their successful attempt to promote school spirit through publicizing and attending IV events. During the course of the year, the IV cheerleaders had two important money-making projects. At Varsity football home games, IV cheerleaders could always be seen selling programs in the stands. They also sold mums for Homecoming. Mickey Moore served as IV captain this year and Debbie Hanks served as co-captain. Mrs. Beth Taylor was sponsor. Drill Team Excels, Balick And Shirley ttend Workshop From the first days of the early sixties, there has been a Drill Team at Floyd E. Kellam. In 1971 sixty-four members. guided by Saundra Balicky. captain, Dolores Graves, co- taptain. and Mrs. Site Hilty. sponsor, performed at school and community functions. In the spring of 1970, team members were selected. That way. all persons could practice during the summer and early opening of school to be ready for those first football games and occasional parades. For a girl to qualify, she had to have a C average. present a nice appearance, exhibit willingness to practice and work at routines, illustrate personality p rojection, and comply with execution of form. Besides performing in the pre-game and half-time routines, the 1971 Drill Team marched in the Oyster Bowl parade: in the Azalea Festival festivities held in May, honoring the NATO alliance: and in parades honoring Armed Forces Day, .in-va' ',3' -' -'e 1: -.
