Club Studies Spanish Art, Literature And Customs Club Hispano America, the Spanish Club of Kellam High, has striven to create brotherhood between Latin American countries and the United States. The purpose of this club is to put the Spanish language to use. and to familiarize its members with Spanish art, literature. and customs. The motto, Poco appoco, se va le jos or little by little, we go far , clearly and concisely states this purpose. This year the Spanish club sponsored the Spanish Art Contest and Show. and co-sponsored the International Tea. This years members were led by Wanda Witt, pres ident: Angel Zeppieri, vice-president: Ruby Brown, secretary: Robert Wesner, treasurer: and Margie Laird reporter-liistorian. Sponsor for the club was Mrs Diane Martin. Librar Club Actively Participates In POW-M A Effort- Circulate Petitions To Hanoi I To assist the library staff in serving the teachers - , . . and students of lxellain lhgh School in order to further the library program, and to help make Kellaln's library the best high school library possible is the purpose of Kellanrs Library Club. Most members of the club are student library assistants or audio-visual projectionists who vol- unteer their study hall time to work in the library: r however, anyone can join. The Library Club participated enthusiastically in the POW-MIA campaign, and showed their concern in several ways: they built a hoinecoining float, honoring the POW's and MIA's, which club members were invited to enter in the Veterans Day Parade: made posters and set up displays: made up bibliographies on writing letters to influ- ential public officials: and made buttons. ,,., ,, pi. Also, the club helped in planning and carrying i J' out the activities scheduled for National Library ' Week. The club's Tootsie Roll sale was a big success, and the proceeds from the sale were used for an annual scholarship in honor of a former librarian at Kellam, Mrs. Nancy Strickler. A two hundred dollar scholarship was awarded to a deserving se- nior planning to pursue a library science course after graduation in Iune. N.! l German Club Holds t'Fasohing Part During Month Cf Februar The purpose ancl function of the Cernian Club is to instill in its members an interest in Cerinanv antl in the German language. In order to fulfill its purpose, the German Club started early in the year with a German picnic in October. The German Club also participated in Kellanrs Hoineconiing. With other foreign language groups, the German Club members helped to make the International Tea an occasion of inerriinent and togetherness for all. A Fasching Party was held in February with the year's ac:- tivities ending with another picnic in May. Along with sponsor Miss Katheryn Vanllear, these club officers provided the fulfillment of the purpose for all German Club members: president-treasurer, Ioyce Bell, vice-president, Bobby Brown: secretary, Carol Neaton.
