'f Iunior Civitan Excels In School And Communit Projects Like The Holland Road Clean-Up To stand for good citizenship in the home, school, and community, to cooperate with leaders: to serve the commu- nityg to develop experience in living and working togetherg to practice the Golden Rule, and to prepare for leadership are the goals that the Iunior Civitan tried to reach this year. The Iunior Civitan strived to meet their goals through several community projects. Members participated in a Holland Road Clean-Up that benefited the school and resi- dents. Two stadium clean-ups were also held. Civitan continued its drive for cleanliness by cleaning the press box windows for Homecoming, washing basketball backboards, and painting two of the school's portables. During the past school year, the Iunior Civitan made up two baskets for the needy-one at Christmas and one at Thanksgiving. They donated S25 to the Ioy Fund and paid 558 for a student's debt. Club officers and sponsor, Mr. Richard Perceful, went to the State Council meeting in November, and members par- ticipated as parade directors at Homecoming. The Iunior Civitan made several purchases this year: an American Flag for the gym for basketball games, a school blackboard, and a drum major's uniform. They also planted six new dogwood trees on the front lawn of Kellam. Along the lines of making money. the club sold candy apples at all home football games, sold fruitcakes in December, and held doughnut sales. Members also were active in two car washes. 232 It was not all work however, as they had a party at the Aquarius, presented a Teacher-of-the-Year award, and a S500 scholarship to a graduating senior. Officers of this industrious group were: president, Rick Cassanig vice-president, Doug Croweg secretary, Karen Orlawskig and treasurer, Iohn Carlton. Iunior Civitan members appear busy and wet at one of their fund- raising car washes.

Ke ettes Take American Indian As International Project In 1970-71 - . . Under the guidance of Mrs. Elizabeth Sink and pres- ident Regina Hawk, the Kellam Chapter of the Keyettes has proved its motto of We serve. Besides promoting Christianity, the Keyettes have braved the swarming faces of people in front of the concession stand at football, baseball, wrestling, and regional gymnastics games, sold doughnuts for the local Boy's Club, sold candy, and decorated the teacher's lounge at Christmas time while also providing refreshments for the teachers. The American Indian was this year's International Keyette's project. Keyette president Regina Hawk takes advantage of the spring weather. Ill-I
