The Seniors led by Coach Roy Ammons, defeated the Iivin' Iuniors in the annual Powder Puff game. Both teams practiced often in the cold, the rain, and the mud, yielding two strong teams with good morals. Half-time was highlighted with the antics of the drill team and the selection of the Powder Puff Queen from among candidates lack Adams, Craig Davis, Charlie Foreman, Steve Hallead, Tom Leahy, Al Scherman, and Lloyd Williams. Charlie Foreman, second runner-up, and Lloyd Williams, third runner-up, assisted in the Coronation of Queen, Craig Davis. Cheerleaders kept the action rolling with their water-balloon and pie-throwing, occasionally hitting an innocent but amused bystander. A winning score of 12-6 put another star in the Senior Class's crown. 16 I- Senior practices were often a messy, tiring busi- ness, but with the assistance from Coach Ammons they were well-rewarded. Kelly Awards Given In May Drama Department Excels Behind The Scenes And On The Boards For Creative And Inspiring Year The Drama Department, along with the Drama Club and the International Thespians, combined talents to produce an entertaining year for Kellarn students. Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, succeeded in portraying small town life where life and death are taken as common, everyday events. - The Senior Class play, Love Comes In Many Colors, was presented on February 26 and 27. Concerning itself with the emotional problems one is faced when dating people parents term as unacceptable, the play was a novel hit. The Miracle Worker was one of the hardest plays to produce due to the fact that several members of the cast had to learn sign language. The play was exceedingly well done, but due to the lack of student participation at previous functions, was only presented one evening. After serving the school all year with entertainment and the grueling backstage work that accompanies every production, the stars were entertained at the Third Annual Kelly Awards program on May 27. There, the outstand- ing people who devoted their time and talents to the dramatic arts were recognized. Miss Rhett Pridgen, drama director, devoted much of her time to the guidance of drama students to produce the best possible for themselves and others. Regina Hawk and Becky Williams starred in LOVE COMES IN MANY COLORS, a play concerned with parental disapproval of those termed unacceptable Father, if you'd only just listen! pleads Becky Williams as her father, Frank Babonis refuses to accept Barry Bradberry as being acceptable 18
