Why just ten girls, and why May Bth? The answer is simple, it is the day that Miss Kellam for the 1971-1972 school year is coronated. Contestants for the contest were Mary Beddingfield, Pat Campbell, Sandy Craft Charlene Ferguson, Beverly Frost, Ieri Moore, Mona Lisa Nunez, Bethann Thorpe, Edith Van Luyen, and Cathy White. The girls were selected on the basis of being a junior, having a C average, projecting both personality and talent. The program of the pageant starts with the girls modeling formal wear followed by sportswear, all the girl's own outfits. Talent competition follows next: then, the finalists are asked individual questions. Miss Congeniality, who is selected by the girls themselves, and Miss Kellam are then announced. judges for the contest sponsored by Epsilon Tri-Hi-Y were Miss Vicki Randall, Mrs. Barbara Lewis, Miss Elke Meyer, and Mr. Richard Cuy. Miss Kellam, Mona Lisa Nunez. received a scholarship from john Robert Powers Modeling School. Bethann Thorpe was awarded the honor of Miss Congeniality. 15

Powder Puff Came Seniors Wallop Iuniors During Their nnual Junior Terri Sawyer makes a dash, but senior Terry Solner grabs a flag to end the play. ll. . . The Seniors led by Coach Roy Ammons, defeated the Iivin' Iuniors in the annual Powder Puff game. Both teams practiced often in the cold, the rain, and the mud, yielding two strong teams with good morals. Half-time was highlighted with the antics of the drill team and the selection of the Powder Puff Queen from among candidates lack Adams, Craig Davis, Charlie Foreman, Steve Hallead, Tom Leahy, Al Scherman, and Lloyd Williams. Charlie Foreman, second runner-up, and Lloyd Williams, third runner-up, assisted in the Coronation of Queen, Craig Davis. Cheerleaders kept the action rolling with their water-balloon and pie-throwing, occasionally hitting an innocent but amused bystander. A winning score of 12-6 put another star in the Senior Class's crown. 16 I- Senior practices were often a messy, tiring busi- ness, but with the assistance from Coach Ammons they were well-rewarded.
