Junior arsity Beasts Best Season in Years lunior varsity football, under the direction of Coach Adrian Brown, completed their most successful season in three years. The players gained valuable game experience despite a record of two wins and four losses. There was no one star on the team: everyone contributed to help the team. Howard Everton and Bryan Iones served as the co- captains. The offensive backfield consisted of Everton at quarterback, Iones at half-hack, Dave Beers at fullback. and Robert Katt at halfback. Iohn Lewis. Tim Terry. Casey Millard, lames Whitaker, and Leon McPherson anchored down the offensive line. Their blocking helped to open up the holes for the running backs. The defensive team enabled the Knights to win both of their games. When the offense could not move. the defense got the ball back quickly. The defensive line consisted of Wayne Potts. Terry Lathrum. Ioe lXIcGuirk. Allen liyker. and Scott Ixlilhouse, Allen Dowell, Dave Beers. and Gene Bun stopped numerous touchdowns by the opponents from their linebacker positions. The deep secondary consisted of Dennis Gregory, and Bryan Iones who intercepted five passes between them, and who were also on the punt-return team. 186 The -70-'71 junior varsity season must be labeled a suc- cess because many boys played on a team for their first time. These boys gained the necessary fundamentals and skills which should enable them to play varsity football next yea r.
