Drenan for his valuable and untiring guidance and help, by dedicating this yearbook to him. Students who have been fortunate enough to have studied under Mr. Drenan know the feeling of appreciation which We are trying to express: and perhaps this fact is reward enough for a good teacher and a fine man. For some of us, it marks the beginning of a new career- teaching. For the undergraduates, it marks the com- pletion of another step in the realization of their ambi- tions. In no sense can this Yearbook be a closed book. We are at the beginning of an educational career which we can never quite complete. For one, two, three, or four years we have lived here at Keene Normal School. The pages of this book serve as a reminder of those tri- umphs and failures we have experienced. Nothing can ever rob us of those cherished memories-the hikes, the athletic games, the pranks, the parties, the tests, and the term papers. In life, as in school, we will have our daily respon- sibilities. Some we will shirk, but most of them we will carry successfully to fulfillment. Our associations here at school, with instructors, students, and others, will help us to see our duties and privileges in a clearer. saner, more thoughtful light. Let us forget our fail- ures and strive continually for successes. Some of our daily tasks may seem irksome, but let us remember that in life, as in school: .. .Yesterday is but a Dream And Tomorrow is only a Vision: But Today well lived Makes every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness, And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope. 'A AROUND CAMPUS U ggi? e m ESQ-3 enior 'Presidents G7XCCSSClg2 As we near the end of one road, and are prepared to enter upon another. let us stop and look back over the paths that have been ours. For all of us there are many happy memories. Few of us realized what lay before us when we set out on this road which has too quickly ended. We have gone by sign- posts-some important-some unimportant, but all have pointed to this term- 1nat1OI1. Now we must look to the future. As we go forth, each having chosen the road which he is to follow, may we never forget the traditions, standards, and friendships of our Alma Mater. There will be many crossroads and new signposts and as we arrive and prepare to pass them, let us be sure that our decisions be those that will reflect honor and credit to the school that has so well prepared us to go on this journey. Classmates, may your paths lead to success, and may your ideals founded during your years here be attained. With you, undergraduates, may I leave these admonitions. You are starting on your roads and some of you have already passed several signposts. You are preparing to go by the rest, but before you go on, stop and be sure that the foundation that you have laid is Hrm, and will stand the increase of weight which you are going to place upon it year by year. Only by our own choice and diligent work can you determine the road over which you will travel. -Robert H. Domina Page Forty-Six gf 119 ME ESQ? Every girl student has an equal opportunity to become a member by winning one hundred points for participation in the many, varied sports by the school, and by achieving a scholastic average of, 8021. At the beginning of the Freshman Year, each girl is placed on either the Red or White Team, and she remains a supporter of this group throughout the course. Awards of emblems, pins, and blazers are presented each year to those filling the necessary requirements. Fall and Spring Sports Days are sponsored biennially, terminating the various seasonal sport tourneys. These include baseball, archery, hockey, bowling. badminton, baseball, volleyball, and swim- ming. The winners of each event are presented with numerous monograms and all varsity players receive letters. Our slogan is: A sport for every girl. and every girl in a sport. The varsity basketball squad owes its striking success to Miss Marjory Bateman, who coached them faithfully throughout the season, and who was largely responsible for their two close victories over Plymouth, our worthy rivals. Another important person in the field of girl's athletics this year has been Miss Miriam Clark, who has most efficiently filled the position of Assistant Physical Education Director. The cross country team held two meets with Gor- ham Normal school, one in Keene and one at Gorham. Me. Gorham won here, while the local boys reversed the score at Gorham. Robert Edmonds, '37, Loudon, led the Keene runners in both meets. During the fall, seven men earned their senior life saving certificates. Coach Caldwell's basketball team had an unusually successful season play- ing with other teacher training institutions. and the Keene Y Club. Trips were taken to schools in Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts. For the Hrst time Plymouth was represented by a team of men, and two games were played with this group, both victories for Keene. The team closed its season with ten victories and five defeats. The locals scored 565 points against 482 by opponents. Only two of the regular players will be lost by graduation. At the time of going to press the spring program had gotten under way. with large groups engaged in tennis, baseball and track. The interest in tennis has been increased due to the hard surfaced courts. The athletic season of 1934-1935 deserves to be recorded in the history of the school as one of the most successful. Practically every man in school was engaged in one or more activities during the season.
