Not only do these innovations affect the contents and the layouts, but also the dedication. For the first time, the SALMAGUNDI is being dedicated to two people. The first person's variety of responsibilities and relationship with the young people have well reflected upon this person's exce lent knowledge of the wants and needs of all of us at Keene High School. Believing deeply that children and youth are the nation's greatest assets, he has persistently sought to use the full force of education for human betterment. He served as a science teacher and principal of the junior High School before becoming the As- sistant Superintendent of Schools. 6 DEDICCYUON ,X if The second person is one who must shoulder the responsibilities which arise in the running of the school. This erson's duties not only extend through the usual hours but also include numer- ous hours of extra work, He is very active in pro- moting and attending all school activities. With the immensity of the school complex, the duties and problems of school administration are of huge proportions. However, he has met the challenge with a friendly and personal under- standing and handling of all daily situations. He is the industrious and capable leader of Keene High School, who handles problems readily and efficiently as they arise. g It is with the reatest leasure that we dedicate the 1970 SALIXEAGUIXFDI to you, Mr. Alfred Lambert and Mr. Charles F. Burns. 7 MIKE BAEHRE WILLIAM O'NEIL IN MEMOI2-IAM R Y ,, ,, , LINSEY THRASHER RICHARD RICE Death is in such strange contradiction to life that it is no matter for wonder that we recoil from it, and turn to remembrances, and find re- compense in perceiving that those we have loved live in our memories as intensely as if they were still before our eyes. Q .wgaa V 2 he r To the Class of 1970, There are so many things that I would like to say to you but as is often the case I cannot find the ro er wo d . I 1 , , . , p p r s would simply like to point out to each of you that we were pretty lucky to get together as a class for four yearsg you know that I'm right! Ours was the class which truly exemplified President Nixon's theme, t'Forward Together, The cliques', were nonexistent in our class. Everyone seemed to know and like the other person. Things which have divided people in the past had disappeared. That, in my mind, was the most important factor in creating the academ- ic, athletic, and financial successes of the Class of 1970. I sincerely hope each of you carries this feeling into your adult life, for it is attitudes like this which will really make a better world. In conclusion, I must say that I have been very fortunate to be acquainted with all of you, and you have enriched l'f my 1 e tremendously. I ask only that you do the same for other people and live the happiest, most unselfish life possi- ble. Good Luck, QW -If I SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS AND ADVISORS Mr. Ikrgcron. I. Rm. Trmsurcr. K. Dedication, responsibility, a broad knowledge, and an open but authoritative mind are Mr. Dayls ap- proach to the demands ofthe Keene School System. Respect, cooperation, and many thanks are the least of his deserved rewards which we, who benefit, can give him. MR. ALFRED LAMBERT No administration could stand without the sup- port of the often thankless job ofthe assistants. Effi- cient management and wise administration, coupled with responsible relationships with the faculty and students ofthe Keene school system, demand of As- sistant Superintendent Alfred Lambert a variety of tal- ents and varied knowledge. These he has, along with a dedication and understanding which make him well deserving of our appreciation. l05 MR. BURNS Too much respect could never be given to the man who has accepted the challenge of running a modern high school. Courage and determination are his sup- port, friendliness, and personal understanding his ap- proach to major and minor problems resulting from the pressures his students face. Whether he is strug- gling with a major administrative decision, leading a cheer at a football game, or passing on knowledgeable encouragement to a graduating class, he carries with him not only a secure authority, but also a warm smile. As a friend and a capable principal we all ad- mire and respect Mr, Charles Burns. MR, BOUCHER It's often admitted by students that the toughest job in any school administration is that of the assist- ant principal. He must be a disciplinarian and a friend at the same time. At Keene High we are fortunate to have a man of Roland Boucher's caliber. He has often gone out of his way to help our students while teach- ing them valuable lessons in life at the same time. To you, Mr. B.,,' the Salmagundi Staff of 1970 extends a strong thank you and its best wishes. I06 MR. BRIDGES Mr. Bridges, the vocational guidance counselor, provides information and counseling for any student. He is responsible for placement of students upon graduationg in military service vocational and technical institutions, or jobs. Mr. Bridges is also the advisor for the junior Lions and Jun ior Rotarians. NIR. STORMS and industries. MR. PIERPONT Established at Keene High School this year is the Health Educa- tion Office under the direction of David Pierpont. His title is Health Education Coordinator and his job is to write up Health curriculum guides. These guides are used for Elementary Teacher workshops, and instructing teachers how to teach personal safety, healthy living habits, and the prevention and understanding, of diseases. It is planned to have High School classes next fall to pur- sue these subjects further. We wish this project a great success.
