KEENE CENTRAL SCHOOL 1987 Up among our towering mountains There stands a school to us so dear Where loyal hearts and eager voices Ring out their songs Of praise and cheer; A school where classmates stand Together, whose foes will never Fail to yield. While we, its loyal sons and daughters, Our Alma Mater shield. 'Neath great green monarchs of our Valley, where beauty lingers Everywhere, Where sun's bright rays and moonlight Shadows, bring warmth And good cheer to the air. Here, in this peaceful little Valley, we'll shout our praises To the sky. As we see the banners flying. Oh, our Keene Valley in the Mountains, the Adirondacks, White and blue We must be loyal to our colors. The Orange and Black which stand For you. Our cheers and songs all echo Proudly, our school must keep Her spirit high. As we see the banners flying. Dear old Keene Central High! DEDICATION JAY DUMAS, 1984 To Jay Dumas: We will think of you. You touched our school in many ways. Countless things remind us: the swift soccer player who scores on a breakaway, or turns a shot with quick dispatch...the lightening guard who leads the fast break, or scores with a deadly jump shot...the clutch hitter who pumps his bat and then lines the game winning single...the outfielder who makes a spectacular catch... The boy in the front row at All-State chorus who smiles and sings with great enthusiasm...the actor in a musical with great comic timing and the way with a song to make us all feel happy... The trivia whiz in Scholars for Dollars...the intuitive inventor in Olympics of the Mind...the swinging trombone player in the dance band...the high school kid who does volunteer work for the community...they all remind us of you. Most of al1... there's the carefree walk, the easy smile, the corny jokes, and the way you befriended us all. We see you in the gym, on the athletic fields, on the stage making us laugh, at the fire station, in the church singing in the choir... You are at all of those places...in spirit, and in our hearts. JAY AND CARLENE 2 MESSAGES TO SENIORS Dear Graduates: As you are ending your careers at Keene Central School, I am sure you are looking ahead to the future with mixed emotions. You are excited, anxious, uncertain, determined, optimistic, pessimistic, and so many more. Graduation is also a time to look back on the events of the past. I hope that you will have fond memories of Keene Central. Attending school should be a rewarding, enjoyable experience. We have tried to provide the back- ground and preparation for the next phase of your life. Now it is up to you. My advice to you is dare to be great. Set high goals and work hard to achieve them. I want to wish you the very best of luck. I hope you find the successes that you deserve. To the Class of 1987: As you leave Keene Central School on June 20th, we the staff, extend our very best wishes. We hope your years as a student here have been and will continue to be some of the best years of your life. Remember, if you will, that high school only provides you with the tools to begin your journey toward a successful career. What you do with the tools you have been given is entirely up to you. Your future is in your hands. You will be successful if you wish to be. I believe in each and every one of you. YEARBOOK STAFF In a matter of days my classmates and I will be leaving here, taking all of the memories in this book. Although we will all probably return here and there we will never quite belong as we do now. Whenever we get homesick, admit it or not we all will, all we have to do is take out our yearbook, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, it was a lot of hard work, but we did it! The yearbook is done. I hope that everyone who reads this book enjoys it as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. I'd like to thank the teachers for their cooperation and Heidi and John for their time and effort in getting some terrific photos. To next year's seniors, I hope yours looks as good as ours. (Good luck Dee!) To all underclassman: putting a yearbook together takes a lot of time and hardwork. It brings back many memories of the time we spend in school. Work together, not apart, to make the process of putting your yearbook together a memorable one. The levels of professional ism, maturity, dedication and talent displayed by this yearbook Staff were outstanding. The experience we all had was a marvelous learning and pleasurable one. It will become a fond memory for me, as I hope it will be for all of the Staff, the Seniors, and the readers of this 1987 yearbook. 0)tCJLLLXj Ed itor Treasurer NINETEEN ADMINISTRATION Mary Sembrie Treasurer loard of Education: Gail Hall, Fred Warner arolyn Fish.
