Sponte Smma vy 19 9 80 GIRLS SOCCER With a team of mostly seventh and eighth graders, the Varsity managed a victory over Westport and several other close games. With this much youth the team can't help but improve next season, in spite of the loss of Amy Whitney, Chris Segard, and Leslie Hall. BOYS SOCCER Todd Purdy, Andy Frieary and Jeff Shackett were all named to the MVAC All-Star Team, and fullback Greg Boynton received the ul- timate honor—First Team All-Section VII. The Beavers outplayed their opponents eight times, but lack of depth at certain posi- tions cost them several victories. The biggest thrills were two victories over Lake Placid and the sectional victory over Minerva. BOYS JV BASKETBALL Inexperience played a big hand and the boys struggled through a 2-16 season. BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL The Keene Beaver's squad showed great promise for the future, winning six games including their opening sectional game against Westport. Greg Boynton and Bob Wells (who represented Keene in the senior All-Star game) will be missed, but the Super Six, ali- as the Shake 'n' Bake Boys will be back. Eric Johnson and Dar- rin McDonough were March Conference All-Stars. GIRLS BASKETBALL Only a few girls showed up to play this year, but most of the team showed great interest and dedication. We need greater sup- port from the other girls for this program to continue. GIRLS SOFTBALL The season started with a large number of people showing up for practice. Most of the pitching will be done by Doreen McDon- ough and the girls are very optimistic. BOYS BASEBALL Only one senior and one experienced junior are on the team, so a group of 8-9-10th graders will learn as they play through a Varsity schedule. Darrin McDonough, Matt Dumas, and Todd Purdy do provide a potentially strong pitching staff. Coach Dumas 28
