SENIORS' NEW YORK TRIP OF 1959 The six boys of the 1959 Senior Class left for New York bright and early Monday morning, April 20th, accompanied by Steve Feinberg, as chaperone, and his father. We were all packed on Sunday so that we would be ready to leave by 6:00 a. m. Monday morning, without delay. We trav- eled to Albany and from there by way of the Thruway to Suffern where we were met by Mrs. Sheckley of Maplewood, New Jersey, at noon. Mrs. Sheck- ley showed us the way into the city to the Plymouth Hotel and she contin- ued to her home in New Jersey with Mr. Moses Feinberg who had planned to stay with her. We checked in at the Hotel at 2:15 that afternoon after spending some time untying Steve's well tied luggage from the school's station wagon. Fron then until 6: 5 that evening we shopped around, look- ing over the City around the Hotel. At 6: 5 we met a an Zile represen- tative who took us to Radio City Music Hall Theater where we saw a very interesting show featuring the 36 Rockettes and the movie GREEN MANSIONS. On Tuesday morning at about eight o'clock we left, accompanied by the Keeseville group, on a Grey Line Bus for a United Nation's Tour where we saw the various Council rooms and their functions and designs were ex- plained to us by a guide. From the United Nations Building we went to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, which we were told, had not been completed because all the construction was carried on through contribu- tions . On Tuesday, at about noon, we went on a tour of the Bowery and Chinatown. After this tour we visited the Empire State Building and we went up one of the many elevators to one of the Observation Roofs where we got an overall view of the city. While entering the Empire State Building an amusing event took place. James (Restless) Reed decided that three people could get into one section of a revolving door and thus be- came wedged in the door, causing it to come to a sudden stop. Irom then on he used the regular door whenever possible. After this visit to the Empire State Building we returned to the Hotel. Then that evening we walked to Madison Square Garden to see the Circus, which was another ex- citing show. We were up early Wednesday morning so that we would be ready to meet Mr. Murry, a Van Zile representative, by 8:00 o'clock and were joined by the Keeseville group for a steamer trip to visit the Statue of Liberty. After this visit to the Statue of Liberty we returned to the Hotel and at 1: 5 p. m. we left for a visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza, where we watched the skaters for a while, and then we went on an NBC Television and Radio Studio Tour. That evening we went to the Majesti Theater where we saw the stage show MUSIC MAN which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Thursday morning at about nine o'clock we left the Hotel with Mr. Murry for a visit to the American Museum of Natural History and from there we continued directly to the Bronx Zoo. That evening we did some shopp- ing and visited Times Square to see the brilliant lighting from the ad- vertising signs. We checked out of the Hotel at 5:23 a. m. Friday morning and left for home by way of the Thruway to Albany where we stopped for a couple of hours. Then we left Albany, stopping for a look at the Saratoga Race Track. Then we continued home, arriving at about p. m. We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip and appreciate having Steve go with us.
