Cooley Chapter of The national Honor Society The national Honor Society was established In 1921 to create an organization that would recognize and tester l f ' 2! JlTaTiZ ll wZe developing other characteristics essential to citizens In a democracy. Scholarships, character, service, and leadership a« .deals that remain relevant. The national Honor Society serves as an excellent training ground for the youth who will be the leaders of tomorrow. Serving on Another and the community Is equally important This aspect of citizenship is expressed in the motto of the National Honor Socety. Noblesse Oblige. The idea mat one has an obligation to use one ' s talents, skills, and knowledge for the betterment of others is the cornerstone of Society projects and activities. Keenan-s John M. Cooley Chapter of the National Honor Society engages in many activities wh,ch render services to others - collected money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, wrapped Christmas gifts for the Ronald McDonald House, etc. This year the Society hopes to assist the Greater Columbia Literacy Council, and to colled money for the llkhland memorial Hospital Cancer Center in the name of the late Mrs. Charlotte LeOrand. a former teacher at Keenan High School. Block K The BlocK K Club is a club that all athletes can participate in. if they have lettered in a varsity sport In order ' ' f Pf « ' fj f ' athletes must go through an initiation. FRENCH CLUB French Club The purpose of Keenan ' s French Club is to enhance the practice of French and familiarize the members with the customs, civilization and culture of the Franco-phones: and to promote a great- er feeling of internationalism and toler- ance for other people whose language and culture are different to ours. The club also seeks to help perpetuate the goals and philosophy of our school. This year ' s club (Le Cercle Francais) consists of 60 interested members who are of French II or above caliber.
