RAIDER DEDICATION Mr. David Mesimore has been a dedicated faculty member at W.J. Keenan for sixteen years. He has been a teacher, athletic director and above all, a friend to the students at Keenan. The 1987-88 yearbook staff is proud to dedicate the yearbook to Mr. Mesimore. Mr. Mesimore ' s story began on November 4, 1947 in the town of Salisbury, North Carolina. His proud parents are William and Rachel Mesimore. Young David attended Wiley Elementary School where he was an outstanding student. His family was active in Bible School and other youth activities. Mr. Mesimore went to Knox Junior High where he received excellent grades which prompted his teachers to write comments such as David has been a pleasure to teach and David always does his best. After junior high school, Mr. Mesimore moved on to Boyden High School. In high school he maintained a 4.0 average and graduated with honors in June, 1966. As a reward for all his hard work in high school, Mr. Mesimore ' s parents bought him a Volkswagen bug . In September, 1966, Mr. Mesimore packed up his Volkswagen and set out for college. He attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. In college he majored in math and learned all the math facts he has been teaching his students at Keenan. His senior year he was a student teacher at Silva Weber High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Carolina in 1970. After college Mr. Mesimore moved to Columbia, South Carolina where he entered the University on South Carolina to pursue his master ' s degree, which he received in 1971. In the fall of 1970, Mr. Mesimore began his teaching at W.J. Keenan High School. Over the years he has taught a variety of math courses with his main emphasis now on upper level math courses such as Algebra Ill Trigonometry and Calculus. Mr. Mesimore was involved in coaching football and track during his early years at Keenan. He took over as Athletic Director in 1979 and has held that position ever since. He has been the sponsor of the Block K Club for a number of years and a class sponsor for the past four years. Although Mr. Mesimore spends a lot of time at Keenan, he is also very involved in his church. He attends Trinity Lutheran Church where he has served as the President of the Congregation and has been the chairperson of the Educational Ministry Committee. He has also been the Sunday School Superintendent. He is presently a Lector, a Lay Reader in the congregation and has been a Youth Advisor for three years. Pastor McLaniel of Trinity Lutheran Church says David is very dependable, reliable and he always does an outstanding job in all his endeavors. He is respected by both youths and adults at his church. Thank you Mr. Mesimore for all the long hours you put in to help the coaches, athletes, and everyone else you come in contact with.
