YEARS OF SaCCESSII During the summer of 1976, extensive remodeling made important changes in the home economics, food careers, office occupations, distributive education, fashion merchandising, art. graphics, and industrial arts teaching areas. These changes greatly enhanced the instructional processes within these classrooms; both students and teachers benefited from better utilization of space and facilities. Renovations on four science lecture and lab areas and two social studies class- rooms began during the 1982-83 school year and were completed at a cost of over $300,000. Construction on the new 500 seat theatre began in June. 1982. and was ready for student, community, and district use in November. 1983. Keenan is proud of its new theatre and looks forward to the many educational and cultural events it will help bring to our community. The Board of Commissioners and Superintendent. Dr. Gordon McAndrew. are to be thanked for the guidance and assistance they gave to making the Keenan Theatre a reality. William J. Keenan. for whom the school is named, served on the Columbia Public School Board from 1934 until 1959. A native of Columbia. Mr. Keenan was Chairman of the Board of Keenan Oil Company. His portrait hangs in the Theatre forever. Keenan is a thriving school with a comprehensive curriculum and an expected enrollment for 1988-89 of approximately 1400 students. It has come a long way in 27 years from the little patch of forest off Pine Belt Road! Keenan has grown and changed as its needs have grown and changed. ALMA MATER Keenan High, we do adore thee. Ever would we praise they name. Fill our lives with zeal and courage As we live from day to day. Guardian of our halls of learning. Blessed mother of the free. Teach us how to love each other As we seek and learn to be. Hail to thee, dear Alma Mater. Guardian of the right we adore. Love and truth and sacred honor. Lead our paths from shore to shore.
