SENIOR CLASS HISTORY It was late autumn--early September, really--- before the leaves began to turn color and mound up in heaps around the grounds at KHS. Students were crowding into already crowded classrooms and once again starting a new year. We were freshmen! During our freshmen year, the traditional Fresh- X man-Sophomore Initiation was done away with entirely. Instead, the sophs treated the underclassmen to a party which everyone enjoyed. Also during that term each homeroom had its own class officers in place of officers for the entire grade. But, always, there were books and study and homework. Next came our sophomore year. It seemed that this was just one step closer to our goal--graduation! Our class officers for that year were: Gary Underhill, president, Winifred Peevyhouse, vice president, Carole Bowman, secretary, L. G. Penoyer, treasurer and Jackie LaLonde, student council representative. That year we held our first class play, Al Haddon and His Lamp , which was worthy of high esteem. Still, there were books and study and homework. The next step was our junior year. The class chose Anne Gould as president, Gary Underhill, vice-president, Elaine Viola, secretary, L. G. Penoyer, treasurer, and Duane Christian as student council representative. They gave as their annual play, Almost Summer , which was a praised attraction. As the class before them had done, the juniors and seniors once again combined their proms and the results were greatly re- warded. In May the juniors entertained the seniors at the customary banquet. Occasionally, there were books and study and homework. At last our senior year was upon us! Officers for that year were: Gary Underhill, president, Anne Gould, vice-president and student council representative, Joyce Newland, secretary, and L. G. Penoyer, treasurer. Aunt Samanthy Rules the Roost , Junior-Senior Prom, Junior-Senior Banquet, all played a major part in completing our last year in high school. And commencement meant it was all over for the class of 1952-- the autumn leaves, our banquets, proms, class plays, the books and study and homework--all the memories of our four years were wrapped up in a slender roll of sheepskin.
