The timing of KEARSARGE 's passage through the Red Sea, coupled with ship 's robust medical facility, augmented by Fleet Surgical Team EIGHT made it the ship if choice for the mission. The ship 's secondary mission was to provide surveillance and, hcrequired, air and sea borne extraction learns to deliver the President aml other officials to safety in case if emergency.
