The Spanish Club, newly headed by Miss Eleanore A. Adams, participated in many projects like writing to boys and girls in Mexico and Spain. The French Club sponsored by Miss Edith Circle sold decals and book covers and held a cake sale at the evening P.T.A. meeting. Their main activity has been the sponsoring of a French boy, Christian Mathot. CLUBS PROVIDE INTEREST The members of the Art Club are responsible for the scenery and decorations at many school events. The Math Club sponsored by Miss Marian Micchelli and Mrs. Emma Mc-Cutcheon provided extra time for pupils interested in mathematics. The debators during the season have engaged in debates and discussions sponsored by The National and N. J. Forensic Leagues. The topic for the year was Resolved: That The Federal Government Should Substantially Increase It’s Regulation of Labor Unions. Weekly meetings were also held dealing with a variety of topics. Among the activities were a Birthday Party, Mother and Daughter Banquet and a Christmas Donation Party. Meetings of the Archery Club were held on Fridays in Gym 1 10. Mrs. Earle taught the members the fundamentals of archery and helped organize the clubs two tournaments. With only four returning lettermen, this year was a comparatively poor one. The team posted a 7-5-5 record. Victories were against Livingston. 2-0; Newark Central. 2-0; Paterson Central. 3- 0; West Point Plebes, 2-0; Montclair, 4-0; Bloomfield, 4-0; and East Side by forfeit. Among the losses were: Irvington Vocational. 2-0; and Teaneck 4- 0. BASKETBALL The basketball team was hindered by lack of experience, with only three returning lettermen: Fred Gillespie, Andres Runne. and Bill McCann. The latter two graduated during the season. Fine fielding is the team’s major asset. A fairly young squad, first baseman Luke Gross and third baseman Fred Gillespie are the only two senior regulars. Harry Clark and Gillespie are the team captains. This is Mr. McGlynn's first year as coach.
