Class of January l 939 HE January class of l939 entered Kearny High School with the hopes and ambitions of making our class the most active and successful body of students ever to cross its threshold. We entered the senior school with flags unfurled but not quite flying, for as yet, we had not made ourselves known either as a body or individually. ln our first term in the senior school our class made merry by holding a Flip and Hop dance in conjunction with the lOA class. lt was a great success. Apparently our lOB class was to outshine all others for in this year we had our first class trip. We sailed away to Rye Beach on a pleasant day in June. This did not end our sopho- more activities, for we also served on the refreshment committee for the Senior Farewell Twelve girls represented the class on the Laurel Chain for that graduation It hardly seems possible that the night we have looked forward to ever since our freshmen days is over The Junior Prom has c me and gone We danced to the music of the Southern Cross Orchestra This dance was proclaimed a success by everyone and will live long in the annals of Prom history Though our high school career is only a little more than half over our class has distinguished itself in all of the school s activities We have been represented in every sport club and society CLASS OFFlCERS President Treasurer FORREST HACKETT JOHN McLAUGHLlN Vice President G O Finance ROBERT CHISHOLM VINCENT HEDING Se retary Sponsor FLORENCE GIBSON MR WILLIAMJ WALLACE Assistant Se retary HILDA McKNlGHT S--.
