Spikers Take Eastern League Title lf there is one good explanation for Varsity Volleyball's outstanding record, it is probably due to their precise functioning as a team. Much of their success can be attributed to a new, offhand hitting formation, which they added to their strategy at the beginning of the year. Their coach, Mrs. Cole, has assisted greatly in coordinating the team, formulating lineups, and devising game strategy. With three games left and a 12-0 record behind them, they easily clinched the Eastern League Title. Although they didnlt place in the Poway or Metro tournaments, they still emerged with a respectable 13-5 overall record. Forming the backbone of the starting lineup were seniors Sally Fellows, Wendy Tompkins, Therese White, Janice Yip, and juniors Susan Johnston and Donna Reid. Anchoring the back row, Therese White and Janice Yip made most of the sets, while Wendy Tom kins assisted with some outstand- . P . ing spikes.
