Tennis Smashing Success The Girls Tennis Team has made some outstanding progress over the last few years, especially with the new Eastern League starting this year. Considering that all except Covington were new to the job and that Kearny was in the new, tougher Eastern League, the Komet mentors did, indeed, accomplish a lot. Coach Covington talked about the fine individual talent of his J .V. squad. The Komet coach mentioned quarter- back Steve Dreher, tailback Rodney Fowler, linebacker Kyle Conner, and wide receiver Darryl Stokes. Covington also gave credit to safties Anton Jeffer- son and Darryl Moses, and to defensive end Ron Kirkpatrick. Covington and his staff look forward to a better season next year.
