Tom Barnett succeeds Birt Slater as Head Varsity Football Coach. With the departure of Don Wads- worth from the Kearny Aquatics scene in 1976, the need came for a new swim coach, so along came Tony Griswold. A physical educaton major out of San Diego State University. Griswold is probably most known in the world of track and field. He holds the third longest Javelin throw in the History of S.D.S.U. but GRIZ is no stranger to the world of Aquatics. At the ages of 9 and 10 he swam A.A.U., he's taught swim lessons, and was a beach guard for three years Q69-711. Tennis Smashing Success The Girls Tennis Team has made some outstanding progress over the last few years, especially with the new Eastern League starting this year. The team started out by beating Madison, 10-6, the first time ever that the girls have done this. They went on to finish fifth in the league, the best they've ever done. lt is a young team with mostly sophomores and juniors in the top positions. Miss Addona, an excellent coach, along with a good bunch of girls has made this the best tennis team ever. ln the past three years Kearnyfs team has come up in standings, and hopefully they will continue to rise in coming years.
