.V. Cheer Spirit Lets Hear It! The 76-77 Junior Varsity Cheerleaders were a very active group. Along with their normal functions such as cheering j.v. football, and basketball games, Debbie Barnes and Cheri Mon- tano were also involved on the gym- nastics team. Debbie, Sue, Cheri, and Luana were this years j.v. cheerleaders, they did an excellent job and should be proud of themselves. Varsity Cheer 0ur Spirit Is Sk High From football to basketball to girls sports, the Varsity Cheerleaders really outdid themselves. They may not have actually done cheers for certain teams but it isn't easy to cheer for a few of the sports like tennis, but they made cupcakes for the team and watched the teams play, so that the teams knew the spirit of Kearny was behind them. This year the girls cheered for more of the sports than ever before. The cheerleaders went to cheerleading camp over the summer and brought back new ideas and cheers. They feel that bringing in new cheers will break the monotony of having the same cheers every year. Debi Lawler the Head Cheerleader, did a fantastic job of bringing these girls together to form one of the best cheering squads in re- cent years. Another important person on the squad is John Vigil, the team mascot. They all prove that at Kearny- Our spirit is sky high! The cheerleaders doing a cheer during a pep rally. 30 Sports
