is-Zbeckcafion Coach Slater is one of the most respected and well liked members of the faculty of Kearny High School. He is not only an enthusi- astic Basic Citizenship teacher, but an unselfish football coach who devotes many hours to Kearny's football team. Born in Culver City, California, Mr. Slater attended high school in Canoga Park, where he was chosen to be a member of the All City Football Team. He continued playing football while he served in the Navy. While attending San Diego State College, Mr. Slater was chosen Small College All American Defensive End. Since Mr. Slater's arrival at Kearny four years ago, our football team has been West- ern League champions twice. This is a record of which Kearny may be proud. He has also been instrumental in helping several talented boys receive athletic scholarships. lt is with pride, that we dedicate the '63 KOMET to such a deserving person. vnu.,

.xdclminififrafion Administrative Conference We at Kearny are proud of Mr. Cleon Davies, our principal, who, after eight previous years of service to Kearny, has again done a wonderful job of heading our administration. His super- vision of Kearny's activities and his help to organizations has been outstanding. lt is my pleasure to express appreciation for all of us on the faculty to you, our Senior Class, for your fine spirit and co- operation this year. You have helped us meet many problems in a friendly and thoughtful manner. I am certain the experiences you have had at Kearny will be of long lasting value and will contribute, happily, toward the goals you hope to achieve.
