L special recognition Mr. Paul Deacon United States History is the specialty of Mr. Paul Deacon, and he has made it come alive for hundreds of Juniors. By means of his unique and interesting teaching meth-ods, he helps the students understand and appreciate our American heritage. He has visited many of the historic shrines discussed in class and he shares his personal enjoyment of them with his students. ln addition, Mr. Deacon has become Co-ach Deacon to the many boys he has trained on the athletic teams in the past. Paul Deacon has contributed much to the friendly spirit ot Kearny High School.

Mrs. Karen Wiseman Known and respected by all students abid- ing on the Kearny campus, is the girls' Vice-Principal, Mrs. Karen Wiseman. Not only does she sponsor Dianas, set up the school calendar, and lceep actions running smoothly, but also spends many hours solv- ing personal problems for the girls. ln fulfilling these demands with competence and quality, Mrs. Wiseman has not only won the friendship and admiration of all who lcnow her, but also, the sincere thanks and gratitude for three successful years at Kearny from the l959 graduating class. Mr. John Brose Mr. John Grose, our boys' Vice-Principal, must set an example for all male Komets. Aside from seeing that school regulations arc obeyed, and handling, difficult situa- tions which arise during the year, he is the manager and organizer of all sports and affiliated activities. A most competent man, Mr. Brose was able to fulfill his job while at the same time, gain respect and friendship of Kearny students. 7

dedication Twelve years ago, a certain new teacher came to Kearny. Ordinarily, the arrival of a new teacher is a common event. But it did not take long 'forthe kids -as he called the students-to discover that he was more than a teacher. He was a sincere friend and possessed uncommon understanding and a warm sense of humor. This man had become almost legendary-it was he that the entering Sophs heard of 'First and it was he also who the Alumni sought out when they returned tor a visit. Now there is nothing but the legend and the memory, for in mid-year he left to help establish a new high school. The legend is not wrong, tor even in memory, Mr. Leonard Fierro is the biggest little man at Kearny. Mr. Leonard Fierro 9
