Sparkling blue eyes and a pleasing smile describe Jackie Merrill, active at Kearny since the seventh grade. Working as K.H.S. News managing editor and as Diana president, jackie was kept busy this year. Contributing her services to Komet clubs you'll find the only organizations she hasn't worked on are the Varsity Football squad and the Boys' Hi-Y. Good things don't always come in small packages! All 6'2 of Gary Williams, our student body prexy, is a good thing. A thespian in Kearny's drama department, Gary is known to most of the residents of Linda Vista, as he had leads in Peg O' My Heart, Little Womenf' and Mother Is a Freshman. In his junior year he was given the honor of going to Boys' State at Sacramento. That's Gary, a terrific guy. Active in her senior year as both Drill Team Colonel and Editor-in-chief of the Komet, pert Darlene Clay has had a hand in most activities at Kearny in the past six years. Outside her work in her numerous offices, she has repre- sented K.H.S. at a number of conventions, won prizes in several writing contests, and has all this time kept up an A average. This versatile, all-around gal is a credit to her class and to the school. Pretty, peppy, and popular are three adjectives that describe Marie Hurteau. This likeable gal has been at Kearny since the seventh grade and has belonged to every organization in the book. She's been song leader for two years besides winning honors in the drama department. Marie's readings and monologues are famous Cwell, around Kearny anywayj. In her senior year, Walker's chose her to represent Kearny on the Hi-Debber council. Easy dad . . . always ready with a joke, Jerold Rees, our class prexy, brightened things at Kearny. On his serious side, Jerold was Komet Sports Editor, and in the Hi-Y. With a pleasing personality and a winning way, Jerold won fame as the little tiger of the gridironfl One of Kearny's few U60 minute men and captain of the team, he displayed outstanding athletic ability on the football field and on the baseball diamond. I feel it in my heart,'l is a favorite expression of Girls' League prexy, Anne Watkins, and surely Anne has applied her outstanding talents to her many jobs and activities in a heartfelt, conscientious manner. Liked and admired by all her classmates, Anne, who is the author of the famous Watkins Products in our local newspaper, is sure to go a long way in whatever profession she chooses. Pictured are six outstanding students of the senior class, chosen by a board of fourteen faculty members on the basis of activities, service to the school, personality, and scholar- ship.
