MRA. TAYLCDR. One of the first calls Komey felt obliged to make after his arrival at Kearny was on the principal, Mr. E. C. Taylor. With slight misgivings and an empty feeling in the pit of his stomach he approached that inner sanctum of Knowledge, Mr. Taylor's office. l-lis qualms were soon forgotten. however, once he had met our principal, our Knight in Shining Armor, our Five-Star General in this battle of Kearny l-ligh. l-le was not long in learning that in five years Kearny has become third largest school in the city, and that, largely through Mr. Taylor's efforts, it is steadily raising its schol- astic standards. MlSS MARKEY. Kearny has a reputation for being friendly and one of the people most responsible for this is Miss Markey, our Girls' Vice-Principal. She has squelched for all time the legend that Deans are Ogres lurking in their offices. constantly on guard against any joy and laughter. Famous for her rendition of Chickery Chick she's also wowed us in the past with her dancing at Girls' League assemblies. When Komey asked, Where do l take my l. Q. Test? they replied. Miss Markey. Whom do'l see about scheduling a meeting? Miss Markey. Who has to sign this pass? Yes, all these things and many more keep Miss Markey on the go, and still she has time to solve the many problems of girls who've found her answers simple and helpful. That's why, Komey, you see such a line of girls in front of her office: they're going to see Miss Markey--every girl's friend. . BARBER. Back in the saddle again, after two and a half years in Uncle Sam's Navy, is Mr. Barber, Vice-Principal. Known as the Boogie man, because of his pianistic ability, even in the short time since his return to Kearny, he has renewed his old popularity-especially, as Komey learned, among the feminine population. , l-lis hot boogie-woogie never fails to send the girls, so this teacher man is really a double threat. MR. SMl'l'l-l. For two and a half long, nerve-wracking years, Mr. Smith has served as Vice-Principal at Kearny and only now that he has time to sit back and heave a deep, but short sigh of contentment does he realize what he's been through. While racing through the halls, Komey felt a firm hand grab the nape of his neck and jerk him to a halt: Mr. Smith in charge of all guards. While taking a swim instead of an exam, Komey was most embarrassed to notice a familiar face observing him:-Mr. Smith in charge of unexplained absences. When a senior needs advice about his job: when as a senior, he has troubles, he deals with one person, Mr. Smith. -Q
