ww 'gg-1,11 is M Coach Torn Lopes was pleased with the inter- est shown toward the tennis team this year. Forty-two students, boys and girls, tried out this year. Eleven players were chosen. Senior Aris Alafouzos was the number one singles player. He was always put in against the opposing team's best player, but he played very well against the tough competition. A promise for the future is junior Brian O'Connor. He was the most improved player, and won the most singles matches 175. Seniors Jim Robertelli and Tim O'Brien were best known for their playing together in dou- bles. They were inseparable on the court. Jim and Tim won two clutch matches. Coach Lopes' opinion of the team was that they improved as the season progressed . Most players had never played tennis before . But the interest and enthusiasm were excellent, as was their sportsmanship , especially when they were the underdog. TOP LEFT: Junior Brian O'Connor prepares to make an overhead smash.
