Valedictorian Salutatorian To some an education might mean an opportu- nity for financial security. To others it is a means of acquiring the skills to be of service to others. And then there is the philosophy that the development of man's mind is beneficial and necessary for the advancement of society as a whole. Education is not any one of these in isolation but a combination of all three. For no man's education can be his alone . His financial success, his ability to serve and his relationships with the rest of society all requires education. An enlightened society requires all men to be edu- cated in the need for survival of the species. Thus when we judge a man by his education, we must do so not by his titles and financial success and not by his individual kindnesses or lack of them but by his entire contribution to the advancement of the Homo sapien called man. Susan Laskay Graduation is the start of a new life. It opens up new worlds for all. . . . It is a time of great happi- ness, but also a time of sadness. Starting a new life means leaving old friends, family. Right now I would like to talk about some other people we leave. Other than our parents, these people have played the greatest part shaping our lives. These people are our teachers. They have all done their job well. They have shared their knowledge with us, and tried to teach us the dif- ference between right and wrong. Many of Keansburg's teachers fall into a special cat- egory. They are a new breed of teacher. A teacher who shares more with his students than what is expected of him. He shares himself. He opens his heart to them. and is there when a student needs to open his heart to someone. . . . Someone whom they can communicate with, whom they know they can trust for advice. . . . To the faculty of Keansburg High School, on behalf of the Class of 1975 , goodbye and thank you. Karen Stangreciak
