he 1983-84 yearbook is unique from those in years past. You see, it covers a broad range of topics with the necessary coverage given to each. The Editor-in-Chief has not focused on her particular group or interest. One night while trying to decide on a theme for the yearbook the usual thoughts crossed our minds. Ideas such as nostalgic or historical approaches that would target on the glorious days at Kean seemed nice but too typical for this particular time. Someone suggested the theme to be Kean's new mascot. Excellent idea Cso we thoughtj but since the decision on a new mascot, like so many other things on this campus, was a long drawn out affair we had to find an alternative. Then l had this idea that the yearbook's objective should be to prove its own importance. I mean there is a yearbook in your hands right now that covers student groups, seniors and most importantly, student life. That is more than could be asked for last year. Within the past few years the yearbook has lost its popularity and importance to the student body as a whole due to poor management and student apathy. According to a dependable source, it was questioned whether or not MEMORABILIA 1983-84 would receive funding. Obviously the money was received for the book but the questions and doubts about a yearbook publication still exist. Due to these reasons I felt that this MEMORABILIA should aim toward the importance a yearbook can hold in the minds of the students as well as the entire college community. A successful yearbook is a collection of nostalgia that will always be remembered by the individual students in some manner since these memories were once the present time and helped students shape their lives. The 1984 MEMORABILIA is a yearbook that must prove to the college community, and to influential individuals, that its publication is of importance. Also, this yearbook shows that dedicated students are still capable of organizing a successful publication. A yearbook that pleases every individual is merely a dream for every Editor-in-Chief. Remember, as long as you use the correct formula any seed will eventually blossom and this Editor believes that her small staff has proven this statement to be true . . .
