RICHARD W. HOWES Assistant Director Division of Vocational-Technical Education Graduating classes from the Connecticut vocational- technical schools have a reputation for skill, knowledge and the ability to deal effectively with people. The Class of 1969 can go forth into employment proud of this past reputation and with a resolve to con- tinue the high standards of previous classes and a desire to excel . . . May all the class membecs achieve success in their career field. JOSEPH F. MURPHY Director Division of Vocational-Technical Education 1 wish to congratulate the members of the 1969 graduating class of the Warren F. Kaynor Technical School, Waterbtiry for their successful completion of an arduous program of preparation. You have com- pleted a course of study more difficult than ones com- pleted by most high school graduates. You chose a strong and well-founded program of general studies as well as your elective major in a skilled or technical area. You and the program are unique in Connecticut and in the nation. The program that you have com- pleted is available to students in a number of other states only after completion of high school. You have lead time on many other students of your age due to your choice, your efforts, cooperation of your parents, and the staff of the Kaynor Technical School. May you continue to retain this lcadtime to your advantage, to the advantage of your community, state and nation. May you continue to set your eyes on new goals and prepare yourself to attain them. JOSEPH F. MURPHY Director Division of Vocational-Technical Education RICHARD W. HOWES

Foreword An important climax to an important step in the stairway of life has come to its end. This year was truly the fastest and fullest of the four. It contained joy, sorrow, hope, inspiration and a sense of accomplishment. The Panther yearbook staff deserves credit for the massive amount of work and research required to make this book possible. People will little note, nor long remember what has happened here, but this yearbook will reacquaint all those to whom the mem- ories are dear. What we have learned here at Kaynor will be of infinite value to our present and future lives. Dedication ..... Staff .......... Seniors ........ Class History Class Officers Class Will .... To the Members of the Class of ’69. To each of you as individuals, Congratula- tions. As you go through life remember that we are entrusting each of you with a part of our reputation. We know you will not fail us so please do not fail yourselves. Put in every day’s work the same effort that you put in as students and you will succeed propor- tionately. E. R. MYER Assistant Director Adult Education Responsibility and participation are as much a part of adulthood as books, teachers and study are of adolescence. At the same time that you are congratulated for the knowledge and skills acquired while at Kaynor, you should feel challenged by the responsibilities of adulthood. Your value to man will be measured not by what you know but rather how effectively you aid a world seeking peace and understanding. Adulthood demands continued growth, humility, and a willingness to use your re- sources to help make our world a better home for tomorrow’s youth. I thank the Class of '69 for the experiences you have shared with me and wish you suc- cess and happiness in the future. DANIEL KEEFE Guidance Director 4
