The squad this year stressed guidance instead of the arrest of offenders. Watching lunch lines, collecting lunch money, and checking for tickets and activity cards at games were other duties of this respected organization. Arrests were referred to the student court to be tried, This year, Kauai High School operated on a very modern school court system. Order, order in the court was often echoed by Chief Justice Edward Hanki. Jack Wakayama, prosecuting attorney, was fair and judicious, Capable Albert Nishihara showed wisdom as defense attorney. Minnie Tokunaga and Ccnstancia Santos worked industriously as clerks. With this proficient crew the apprehended were put to a fair trial before the jury consisting of Bar- bara Yamamoto, Stanley lsoda, David Wood, Alfredo Ragasa, and Clorinda Nagaoka. During the entire nine fu Quill and Scroll members meet and talk over club activities. JANE WATADA Co-Editor-in-Chief . . . attractive and industrious . . . studious , . . a reg- ular chum . . . a paragon of efficiency. months of the year, Ka Welo reporters hound- ed every department for news and stories. They haunted the library, the shop, the office, the gym, in short, every corner of the campus was well covered in case something exciting came up. Along with the interesting job of collecting news stories, the staff worked on work sheets. They held class sessions weekly and dis- cussed all phases of journalism, from the car- toon to the editorial. They went through exchange papers as well as their own and talked over the good and bad points. The newswriting class was always buzzing with activity.
