And so the Super Senrors were born To make exerythrng perfect we started thrs all rmportant year rn an entrrely new envrronment the new and beautlful K H S was open for busrness At first attracted by the strange enchantment of unblemlshed desks and clean walls we were steady cus tomers later take a look at the class regrster Neat rsn t rt'7 Grace Goerl Hope Crarg Mrchael Fortune and Warren de Ved the forgotten man of the class tyou know Vrce Presrdenti were also attracted establlshrng ourselves before the faculty and publrc So to start Chrlstmas vacatlon wrth a bang and at the same trme provrde some hrghlrght for Katonah s socral season we sponsored on December 21 the first Senror Ball whrch was one of the most successful ex ents rn the hrstory of K H S lW1ll you ever forget Stardust as played by the Lord Jeff Jesters 'J The next Senror super attraction under the drrectron of Mr Smrth was our Scnror play Tons of Monev starrrng Blll Hayes and Roz Slote and therr supportrng cast Laurel Bennett who was so good she was rndlspensable even to the precedrng senror class Tom McLaren Arty Ferguson Glorra Wood Harry Robertson Mrke For tune George Pough chref scene stealer and Marrorre Bank Thrs cast was supported by the fine work of the laborlng stage crew The John Jaw a yearbook rntroduced to you by the Class of 40 whom we must commend on thelr excellent work was re mtroduced by the Class of 41 Of course we feel ours rs a decrded rmprox ement And now we wrsh to thank you for the gratrtude you have expressed to us for the wonderful work we have done for thrs school rn the past four years We of course wrll go out rnto thrs brg wrde world and make rt realrve what wonderful people we are But serrously we wrll mrss K H S and wrll look back upon these past years as the best we ll ever have MARJORIE BANK JEAN BROVVIN V , . . . , Y Y . 7 . In our second year petrt Cynthia Kolburne found herself rn our midst and can you blame her for having stayed here ever since? That year we also blossomed rnto busr ness operating the first Super Market Kfrtonah had ewer seen Along wrth trmrd Thelma Bathrrck and multrplrcatron table lorrng Arthur Fergu son the Village Blacksmith entered our lrwes That third year rn school was a memor able one In fourth gr rde our number was rugmcnted by permanent Joseph Smrth and tem por ary Mar rorre Bank She also came and went Here for the first trme our fate was guided by the gods Greek and Roman whos names were unceremonrously pounded rnto our skulls The number of new teachers greatly exceeded the number of new students rn thc fifth grade We added but one student Drck Kellogg Fate was rather good to put you rn the Class of 41 wasn t rt D1ck'7 Srsth grade brought back our Goldens Brrdge frrends Rosalvn Slote and Margorre Bank who had at last reached the heights of the Goldens Brrdge school and w ere seekrng further knowledge When the portals of sex enth grade were opened to us we stepped rn dewy eyed We were on the way up at least lrterally fthey moxed us up starrsl Fverythrng was new to us naturallv te rchers came rn this category As soon as the dew dried up and we were able to see our classmates clearly we discover ed that we had among us new faces I aurel Pennett of thc flaming, hfrrr and temper Muriel Tucker who had not as yet drscov then I ater rn the vear we w ere Joined by our lrttle the w rs lrttle then! brarn child Wrl lram Henry Hayes Junior That year we decrded to rmproxe a brt on Mr Robert Iours Stevenson and so we rewrote Treasure Island and acted rt out wrth full wrgs and furbelows Thrs just put us rn a more peaceful state of mrnd for our first most fear ed Regents lVIost of us came through w rth flyrng colors and shakrng lrmbs Age was creeping up on us and the nest Januarv those of us who possed ar rthme trc got our first tart taste of hrgh school rn al ebra class Soon another June rolled round and we earned our passorts rnto hrgh school Freshmen' Trumpets blow rng and bands playing couldn t hare made us feel more important For the frrst month or so we just wandered through the halls rn a dreamy fog wandered rn rdreamy fog untrl we smacked rnto that stone wall more commonly known as upperclassrnen who squelched us religiously at exery opportunity We want ed to organr7e we wanted to do mam things but freshmen so we w ere told just drdn t do those things At the openrng of our Freshman year sharing our blrss we found round eyed be wrldered Vrrgrnra Horton agrarrrn minded Sarah Scofield, quiet Dorrs Moore happy go , . .c , v , w , . r , 'c I L c ' , U ' f ' U 1 ' v - ' ' .
