Miss Barbaras Message Dear Seniors: Six of you of the class of 1959 have received all your formal education in our school. Your of you have been here for only two years, and Toni for one. l hope that whether the time spent here has been long or short, it has helped you to grow and develop in ways that are good. You are the beginning class of the second half century of the school's history and by your achievement, your loyalty, and your cooperation you are making it a memorable beginning for us. Next year will again be a new beginning for all of you. Transcripts have been sent and we are all hoping the adrriissions offices of the colleges will send decisions that are favorable. lt may interest you that for 31 students we have sent 62 sets of admission papers. This indicates what a good class you are academically as we usually average about three applications for each student. You are applying to 23 different colleges, and the largest number seeking admission to any one college is seven More than half of you fall into the group of the aca demically talented high school seniors who are defined by Dr, Conant as the upper l5O5 of all high school seniors For you, he believes college is an obligation your country needs your trained minds, particularly in the fields of foreign language, mathematics and science. lt is not only important that you go to college- it is even :nore important that you remain and receive your dearec No matter how high the tuition of a college is, it does not cover the cost of your education. lf you do not finish. the money of the college has been largely wasted. You have taken the place of someone who would finish and who would use what she has learned in service to our country as a citizen who is trained in a definite field or profession. l hope you will remember this. College is not for fun: it is a serious and exacting dis' cipline. There is, however, immense enjoyment to be experienced while you are learning there are ner.-.' friends to be rnade, a new environment to explore. a new independence to be savored. You will also discover new dear to you the old things are--eyour family, your friends, your home and l hope your school. Affectionately, MQW Principal

Student Body Presidents Message To the Student Body: A senior hall with laughing faces filled . . . A pompon madly waving: songs and cheers Low voices hushed in prayer: A courtyard still'd . . . at jarring be-11's command: the joys, the tears . . . The tired Mondays and the Fridayswgone . Mere lingering memories lost in time: a friend A Winsome smile returned: a covert yawn . . A cherished ring, a pansy, and the end . . . What once was widely scattered coalesced . into a perfect whole-each in its place . . . With every aim in spirit proudly dressed . . . For laughter, and for honor-saving grace . . Achievement full, rewarding, like rich wine My deepest thanks- Through you, these have been mine. As Always, RLSPI-Quad,
