Wrestlers streaked to undefeated PIG-5985011 Heavy Weight Mark Wyman fought for two important points ona take down. Steve Huegerich discussed oncoming match with Coach Phillips. If V .: I . 1 1 g f 1? Varsity Captain Rod Bailey put on one of his best moves in an effort to pin Tustin opponent. Bailey was an asset to both Coach Phillips and the whole team. Following an undefeated pre-season this year's wres tlers have finally given Katella a contending team. This was quite an accomplishment considering Crestview League foes such as El Modena, No. 1 ranked in Orange County, and C.I.F. rated Mission Viejo. ' Coaches Phillips and Werscke stressed team goals rather than in- dividual gains. However the wrestling team had several standouts this season, Russ and Frank lppolito, Gavin Skomars, Brad Ennis, and Dick Bidwell, were in the spotlight many times this season. The overall attitude and record of this year's wrestlers was excellent. qw. .f 1 .r , Wrestling - B1

,KX 'lt 31' 1 34 4 5 HRM Ted Borowaski tried hard for a much needed pin against league foe. This year's wrestling program brought some pride back into the apathetically minded student body. This program was built almost solely by one man, Mr. Phillips. With much help from his right hand man, Coach Werschke, they set out and accomplished seemingly impos- sible goals. With a wrestling mat as their number one goal, the team began earning money in numerous ways such as swap meets, car washes, concessions, and trash pick-ups. Adding to it the donations of concerned parents, the team met their goal and was able to obtain S500 in uniforms, a scale and mat carts. The feel- ing expressed by Coach Phillips was that this was a great accomplishment and must be ruled as the highlight of the season.
