Their functions throughout the year stretched far and wide. Their main re- sponsibility was distributing the finances amongst clubs, organizations, school projects and any other curricular activities. Outside of Katella, the cabinet also had the task of keep- ing good relations among the schools of our district and county. The officers were elected on their leadership qualities by last years student body. They got together fourth period to discuss the ways to make Katella more enjoyable. But class time wasn't the only time spent by cabinet members on problems. Many extra hours were put in working on how to build school pride amongst the students, building new lunch area planters and several meetings to determine their major goals and objectives for the year. These were: 1. The completion of the Student Park 2. Achieving better campus unity 3. Campus Improvement 4. More and better entertainment 5. Maintaining school spirit 6. Improvement of publicity Activities - 41

They represented every walk of life from athletic clubs to scholastic organizations. They were all individualists with one common goal, to get everyone involved in some type of club. Whether student interest was mental or physical, they made sure to provide an activity climate for proper club growth. The result was a variety of clubs which suited the student here at Katella. House of Representatives was composed of students electedin their first period classes. Though large in size there was little confusion as Reps usually agreed on what they wanted done. Headed by Brad Foster, Speaker of the House, committees were formed to help im- prove ou rcafeteria food, and to challenge the new bell schedule. Our campus grew bigger and better throughout the year. After much effort by the student government we finally got our pool and after two years in the planning, the student park neared completion. Sprinklers and planters were also added. Activities 43
