Out of the four-hundred and twenty applications sent in, the band and drill team were among the lucky twenty- one selected for this honor. Along with all the glory and excitement that comes in the Rose Parade, the band and drill team put in many long hours at the Anaheim Stadium in a preparatory march around the parking lot, sometimes as many as seven times around. The two units traveled to Pasadena together the day before and spent half of the night sleeping at Pasadena City College. The other half became a New Year's Eve party bringing the two groups closer together in a big celebration. The next day held an unforgettable march that entertained over a million onlookers! Knights dazzeled with music mastery, The Katella Vocal Department proved as active a group as ever, during the 1973-74 year. Many challenges were met by the choruses as they coped with tiring rehearsal schedules, overcame their fear of solo parts, and tried to keep their tuxes and formals decent during their annual tour up the California coast to San Fransisco. Madrigals and Acapella choir performed at the Carter Bowl, South Coast Plaza, and Holiday in Music. Mr. Axworthy was again responsible for co-ordinating tours, perform- ances and generally keeping the group together. Besides being the moti- vating force behind Madrigals, A Capella and Advanced Girls Cwlee, he supervised the production of the Holiday in Music Program. His directing finesse showed throughout. The sellout show was ended on an inspira- tional note, when all the choirs in the district sang O Holy Nightw as has become traditional since its introduction several years ago. Girls Glee llfrom Topl: S.Hanson, V.Vehrs, C.Snell, R.5odman, D.Mullicane, M.C2eisler, C.
