It is a stage where there is little if any glory and where even your own classmates do not come and cheer, like they did in junior high. But for those who stick it out and make it to the varsity squad, the reward is paid back in full. The Sophomore coach jerry Taplan, and the Sophomore l.V. coach james Tozzie taught the fundamentals of the full court press and the Knight offense. Us f Arte Mory, one of the team leaders on the Sophomore I.V. squad, drove the lane in an attempt to gain a foul, relied on the quickness and shooting ability of its for- wards and guards, Perry Taylor, Steve Kaplan, Bob Sinclair and George Barela. These individuals showed future promise while leading their team to a league record of 7-7. On the Sophomore l.V. Team, individuals who have not reached their full size and ability can compete with others on their own level. This team was lead by john McGuire and Arte Mory, who helped to establish a league record of 7-7. Basketball-95

Wrestling has always been a sport which has had a lack of participation, but Coaches Phillips and Werschke tried to change this through posters, sayings, and announcements. Their hard work paid off as more individuals participated in wrestling than ever before. Due to the lack of support by returning lettermen, the Knights had to rely on the juniors and sophomores for their strength. But wrestling is a sport that takes time, and many matches were lost due to this lack of experience. Although this year may have been a down year, it was a year of learning. Katella finished the year with an overall record of 1-11, with its first team victory in years.
