Katella found that adding another member to the junior Varsity and Sophomore cheerleading squads also added more vitality and depth to their well-formed cheering lines. The girls worked hard throughout the year practicing and developing new cheers and routines. This year a new rule was enforced, being that all girls trying out for song or cheerleader must be an active member of Pep Club. Sign painting, eagerly yelling at games, acting in assemblies, and attending all kinds of athletic events brought the cheerleaders and the Pep Club together as friends. Pep Commissioner, Rhonda Ricketts worked with enthusiasm by organizing all events. Two mascots, Karen Shea and Kathy Doyle were chosen, adding color and excitement to the games. Mr. Mc- Carthy, advisor, willingly gave sug- gestions, and advice. A rewarding year has past for the Pep Club, but the best is yet to come. Happenings-29
