et. s Being a cheerleader or songleader takes a lot of time, coordination' and determina- tion. It's not easy to brave the cold of a football game and keep the smile on your face from freezing into a permanent grin. It was long and involved practice that created the uniformity and precision of these two groups. Retaining their en- thusiasm after long hours of rehearsal, the song and cheerleaders arrived at the game and maintained their energy throughout a victory or a defeat. Katella found that adding another member to the junior Varsity and Sophomore cheerleading squads also added more vitality and depth to their well-formed cheering lines.
