As in the past, they all worked together to form great teams and be the best in their sports. The advisors were Mrs. Fergueson and Mrs. Hueter, who did a fine job in spurring the girls on. The club was also .led by Maureen Connelly, President and Nancy Peterson, Vice- President, whose efforts were in- spiring to the club members. Activities such as the traditional Homecoming corsage sale and the G.A.A..-Drill Team Tug-of-War, showed G.A.A.'s involvement with life at Katella. Competing at other schools or at Katella, C-.A.A. always showed the great Katella spirit. The long practices and hard work, were rewarded with a fine G.A.A. N..-a-4' .Q-af' 'UN ,gif-tv'-'x 'w' Coach Wallin Exits From Sports Spotlight Danley New Athletic Director Coach john Wallin, probably the most ex perlenced coach ln Orange County today, has retired as Athletic Director at Katella, thus end Ing thirty five years of involvement ln high school sports Coach Wallin began back ln 1937 at Anaheim Hlgh School where he was the head coach for varsity football and baseball At Ana helm, Wallin and Van Hoorebeke combined ID football to make the great football teams of Anaheim High School possible As If this were not enough, Coach Wallln put together league contenders ln baseball He also helped to shape the careers of professional baseball players like jerry Stephenson, Cllnt Stark and Dlck Raney Then In 7966, Coach Wallin accepted the honor as Athletic Director at Katella, where he was Instrumental ID the hlrlng of most of Ka tella's coaches, Including Coach Tom Danley, thus contributing to another high school sport dynasty, this time rn basketball As a reward for his contribution to these sports, Coach Wallin was named Coach of the Year , by the Orange County Athletic Directors Association for 1972 It was an honor well deserved, for our own Coach john Wallin, who helped to make Ka tella what It IS today Replacing Coach Wallin, rs one of the most respected basketball coaches ID Southern Cal: forma, Coach Tom Danley Although there will not be any major changes under Coach Danley, there will be a few mmor ones, such as a more Involved Booster Club, Intramural baseball and tennis and our own basketball tournament Coach Danley will also try to Increase both stu dent and parent Involvement for the future Ka tella sports will be directed by an able and a wlnnlng coach, which might pave the way for future winning teams In the minor sports such as wrestling, cross country, and golf K wif 'k5s5.lEQK5Ef:f'. ..
