Golf is one of the most exciting non-contact sports to play and watch, but it has not received much participation from Katella's athletes. This has proved to be the main reason for the Knight's downfall in golf. The golf squad does have some excellent golfers in Mike Cosentino, Mark Leifeste, Dan Nichols, and Greg Gruss, all of whom shot in the high thirties throughout the year. These play- ers usually made it to the green in two shots, on a par four hole, which was close enough to get either a birdie or a par on the hole. These four players have helped with their consistent play to keep Katella within striking dis- tance of victory, against players who take professional lessons and are members of private country clubs. Coach Chuck Denny guided these young players throughout the year, on route to a pre-season record of 1-2. f , , , W , Mm VARSITY GOLF TEAM: Mike Cosentino, Greg Cruss, Scott Newcomb, Dan Nickles, and Robin Almich Lack of Depth Hindered Golf Team ABOVE: Mike Cosentino, showed good form in every stroke. The club was also .led by Maureen Connelly, President and Nancy Peterson, Vice- President, whose efforts were in- spiring to the club members.
