For eleven years the class studied, worked, and played hard together. It will be hard to leave, but with all of us will remain happy memories of our school days together. In 1940 our Senior class got its first start in school. These were the pupils: Doris Crews. Martha Isensee, Tillie Hahn, Linda Krahn, Margaret McClane, Gary Fenner, Danny Fossler, Birl Stockton, and John Atkinson. In the second grade everyone was better acquainted. That is, everyone except Doris Crews. Every time the recess bell rang Doris ran for her older sister. We were glad to welcome Richard Jones in 1941. The next year we were allowed to skip the third grade. Boy, we really thought we were something. In the fourth grade Ciary Fenner was caught chewing gum. He was told to throw it away. But Gary is very thrifty, so he parked the big pink wad of bubble gum on his desk. A little later Mrs. Yeary sat on Gary's desk and her black dress soon had pink polka dots. No wonder Ciary never grew very large! In our fourth year, who should join us but Oscar Kellner. In the fifth grade Jo Ann Hensley and Carmen Morales joined us. When the boys saw Jo Ann, they all began acting like Romeos! In the beginning of the sixth grade we were somewhat afraid of Mr. Binge, but we soon learned that he wasn't anyone to be afraid of. He taught us how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. . . .Taught, but who really learned! The next year our class enlarged a bit. Theresa Vajdos, Viola Shortner, Lillie Broz, Betty Lee Kunkel, and Elnora Buehring joined us from New Bremen. Finally the next year came and we were in the eighth grade. Mary Martinez, Patsy Clark, Rudolph Polasek, Pearl Kinsey, and Cyril Bartkoviak joined our class. Then at last came our graduation. My but we were happy! The next year we were freshmen. Our big day came on October 31, which was Freshman Day. We still have it in for Miss Yeary for making us stay at the far end of the gym because we smelled so sweet! As freshmen we wondered how we would get along without thirty-minute recesses. During our freshmen year Hugo Radicke, Emerance Titzman, Marian Zapletal, Joe Dupnick, Robert Lee Busselman, Dee Davidson, Merlene Boysen, Frances Polasek, Nellie Ruth Knight, Lorraine Moravits, J. C. Cleveland, Emily Kurtz, and Jeanette Samsel joined us. In our sophomore year our class was again enlarged. Joining us were Carmel Johnson, Eleanor Banduch, Fabian Biemer, Herbert Gross, Lorraine Pollok, Lillian Henke, Alvin Henke, and Roger Wehman. We were sorry to see Jo Ann Hensley and Pearl Kinsey leave us. Margaret McClane and Martha Isensee were locked in the school after a band rehearsal. They finally climbed out a gym window. Again, as in the years that had passed, our class grew as juniors. We welcomed Lorene Huth, Linda Krahn, and Leonard Riedel. But on the other hand, we were sorry to see Roger Wehman and Cyril Bartkoviak leave us. Of course, we will never forget the Junior and Senior banquet, which was the big event of the year. At last has come our Senior year. I'm su re the memory of Freshmen Day will stay with us for a long time. We had one newcomer this year, Lena Mae Pittman from Kenedy. We also lost a member of the Senior class, Birl Stockton. We have waited ten years to become the Seniors of Karnes City High School. One of the most important things we will remember is that our Senior boys helped win district in football. Among them was J. C. Cleveland, who was named the Iron Man of the team. With this we close the history of the Senior Class of 1951. We wish with all sincerity, the best of luck to the future Seniors of Karnes City High School. HISTORIAN. Martha lsensee. OUR SCHOOL DAYS By Betty Lee Kunkel As graduation day draws nigh, We, the Seniors of K. C. High, Count our blessings one by one That from our days in school have come. We've had our fun: we've worked: we've playedg As our foundations we've firmly laid: To stepping stones of worlds unknown, Which day by day have onward grown. As lessons at times seemed dull and gray, Often our thoughts slipped strangely away, Perhaps to that party or football game, Or to that Badger boy who lives up the lane. The friendships we've made in years gone by, Have helped make us happy when sadness seemed nigh, A helper in trouble, a rock sure and strong, A friendship tnat lasted through rignt and through wrong. And now as a gang and as schoolmates we'll part, But forever will know, deep down in our hearts, We'l1 always be faithful, and we'll always be true, Yes, faithful and loval, dear high school, to you. SENIOR WILL THE STATE OF TEXAS J COUNTY OF KARNES 5 We, the class of 1950-1951, being of sound, disposing mind and memory, do hereby Make, Publish, and Declare this to be our last Will and Testament: To the teachers we leave a heart full of thanks for the time they spent trying to improve our education. CLASS SONG fTune: Auld Lang Synej By Lillian Henke Goodybe to dear old K. C. High We won't forget your name. Our faith in you shall never die. Tho' times won't be the same. This is the end of our Senior year And the end of high school, too. But it leaves us with a memory dear That is both kind and true. EXECUTORS: Theresa Va jdos Lillie Broz CL The crystal ball, into whcih I gaze, Shows me the future, far from these days. Frances Polasek, the good looking dame. Has now settled down with some other name. Danny Fossler is a crusty old bachelor: He gave his heart to just one girl. And I must say it is a shame, That she settled down with some other name. A trapeze artist was Lillie Broz. She could turn flips and hang by her nose. Until one day she jumped too late: Now she's passed thru' that pearly gate. Herbert Gross is an engineer. He brings home his pay to someone dear. Who turns out to be, Jeanette Samsel. Now isn't she a lucky damsel? There's Lorraine Pollok: that's not her name now. Helping her husband by milking a cow. She has six bundles of happiness. And Leonard Riedel to add to her bliss. A torch singer is Nellie Ruth Knight. She is billed as the Devil's Delight. Dee Davidson thinks he owns her heart, But to Nellie. Dee's just a wart. Emily Kurtz, a lady wrestler is. And at wrestling she's a quite a whiz. Her manager is John Atkinson. He calls Emily his wonderful one. Now, Merlene Boysen, she gave Bob a fling, For awhile she even wore his ring. But when the showdown came, she acted stinky: She up and married ole Alvin I-Ienke. Lorraine Moravits has a broken heart From the people of the world, she lives apart. She lives in her mansion with two cats and a cow. All she needs is a man, right now. Out in the West is Margaret McClane. She's chasing cattle on the Texas Plain, And without a doubt. chasing men, too. But for Margaret that's nothing new. The husbandly type is Fabian Biemer. He is a natural-born dreamer. The reason he is so happy and gay Is his young wife, Helen Faye. Viola Shortner to her home for dinner Invited her boyfriend, Gary Lee Fenner. She hoped a ring would some of this, But all she got was a good-night kiss. Now Marthan Isensee is a pop-corn popper. When sae gets to popping, you just can't stop er. She uses too much salt and not enough butter, But she still sets Oscar's heart a-flutter. A millionaire is Blanche Hickok. Her bank is loaded with bonds and stock. She made her fortune gambling in Reno, She was very lucky playing Keno. Lena Mae Pittman was the flighty type. But now she's a missionary-she turned out all right. She stopped using Mum and never used Arridg That's the reason she couldn't get married. Mary Martinez is an electrician. Fixing wires is strickly her mission. Carmen Morales is old and gray, She never did have a happy day. ASS PROPHE CY Rudolph Posalek is a ladies' delight. A regular Casinova is he. He does most of his courting late at night, And then next day, he sleeps 'til three. Robert Lee Busselman has lived for a century. But he's still the warden of the state penitentiary His favorite inmate is Patsy Clark. She grew tired of studying and went on a lark An organ grinder is Marion Zapletal. The people don't seem to mind a-tall That her music is a bit staticky. 'Cause her monkey is cute Hugo Radike. Eleanor Banduch has a diamond ring. She's thrilled about the whole thing. The ring has a million-dollar shine Too bad it's worth only a dime. A dried-up old maid is Elnora Buehring: She has bad eyes and is hard of hearing. Her steady companion is Lorene I-Iuth. She's a jilted lover-defeated by truth. Doris and Richard once tried to elope. The ladder slipped so they used a rope. The rope was cut and they cancelled their plans And that saved her from dish-pan hands. Theresa Vajdos, with her bad luck, With a ladies' man got stuck. She quit him cold, late in life, She didn't want to be any man's wife. Betty Lee Kunkel had a voice soft and sweet. She's using it now for selling fish on the street. While Lillian Kenke passes the cup, For to take the money up. A hillbillie sinfzer is Joe Dupnick: All the gals think he is just chick. hear him sing with the bands seven to the Texas Tophands If you want to Just tune in at Hortense Johnson. meter she never has won. But that doesn't stop her hoping First home, she'll come aloping. A track star is An eight-eighty An old witch doctor is Tillie Hahn: Her best patient is Linda Krahn. Who with the help of Tillie's brew Was Miss America of '62. Scooter Cleveland is a coach. His boys are above reproach. Although none have made the Ironman team, J. C. still thinks they're on the beam. Emerance Titzman is a tired house wife. Nothing exciting happened to her in her life. She just works all day, and remembers some Of the gay ole days of fifty-one. Another tired woman is Alberta Cockrill. She remembers fifty-one with a very cold chill. But she loves us we know. like all other classes. Especially after a long time passes. The crystall ball is growing dark. Into this world it is time to embark. Parting's sweet sorrow, everyone knows, So that's why we'll say this short adios.
