We have tried to instill into everyone’s hearts and minds the love we share for our school and through these captured memories we hope that you will share it with us too. 0 Charles Monceaux Kaplan High is a place Ruth Ann Broussard for students to grow in mind, body and spirit. Our man of the hour” has lived by such a creed and has tried to instill such a way of life in the students he has taught as a classroom teacher and has guided as both an elementary and high school principal. JUST FOR YOU WES TURNLEV The life of a man is but a day at the most It springs from the night which in darkness is lost; Hope is life's sunshine in the daylight hours; Patience in trials forms the colorful flowers; Faith is the pillar of strength for the man; Who in spite of life’s torments keeps saying I can But when things of the past to our hearts do return And the thoughts of the good old days in our minds still burn. A wisp of new hope; a bright shining star; Is gleaming and glowing of the future so far. It enters our hearts during each daily prayer And this just goes to show that for you We still care. 36 by Barbara Edwards Class of ‘66 IN UGMORIAM RONAID BROUSSARD REQUIESCAT IN PACEM! Many gazed upon your quiet face Before you were lowered to your resting place. Many called to mind with loving thought Some kind deed your hands had wrought; Some gentle word your lips had said; Some errand on which your willing feet had sped. Now you're watching and waiting in a better world Far from this world of war and sin. You are waiting for your friends at the Golden Gate Waiting to welcome us within. Nearly three long years have passed now. But the memories of your youth remain. You are safe from all earthly torments; Free from life's heartaches and pains. We'd like to say how much we miss Your presence here with us. Why you had to go, we do not know. For only God Almighty knows what is best. Though every human trace of you is gone Since the day you passed away Three years have likewise come and gone. But the memories of you still stay. And though your soul will eternally sleep Old friends will forever, your memory keep. by Barbara Edwards Class of '66 37 SEMfOR- SNAPS 1 ;; i Mr. Simon's Homeroom Rufus and Charles getting instructions from Mr. Aube Chemistry class making a trial experiment. These students are selected on the basic re- quirements of initiative, leadership, scholarship, and character. During the nine days in which the Pelican Staters live on the Louisi- ana State University campus, they learn the fundamentals of local, parish, and state governments by actually taking part in the elections of officials of the mythical fifty-first state. With knowledge they have gained by the first-hand experience of running government, the Pelican Staters return home with a greater interest in civic affairs. The silence and peace there will be when we have gone Out to face the strange future, all on our own. We’d like to say Thank You for the help that you gave. Forever in our hearts your flag of friendship will wave. To the Juniors we leave all the fun that we had The dignity and poise which they do need so bad. Our initials and engravings in our Senior homerooms. The items left in them and our dear teachers too. Our study hall teachers, the fun of roaming the halls The chances for honor or just for having a ball. To the Sophomores the meekness and humility we have left. The chances to be neutral when the fight is at its best. The smelling salts they will so badly need Upon seeing they don't know so much as they thought they did. To the Freshmen our will contains all the sweet things Like big hopes, big wishes, the gigglings and sweet dreams. The pangs and pleasures of that wonderful thing we call Puppy Love. The moments of day dreams when your thoughts soar above. And Yet.......... Besides all these things we are going away now We would like to give you all our blessings today To our school, its dear teachers, the cooks, and janitors too. We would like to say farewell and May God Bless You!
