0?oneuMVicL Although this picture may resemble a rather ordinary looking building - it is much more to us. It is the memory of our impressive days at Kaplan High. The clanging of locker doors be- tween classes, the rush to the dinner line, the long lines at the water foun- tains, the anxiety of the seniors getting their rings, and the Friday night foot- ball games are just a few of the mem- ories that will return to us in the years to come. We have worked and learned to- gether and our hearts will always re- turn here - to our Alma Mater. ScttoaC ‘TC.afcCcut, otU tcuta, 3 s4cU tctti4tn6itio t Section. @Ca40 cat con (Pjfaoo. TfOi, diec Sajz Uta The Jolly Roger Staff, acting in behalf of the faculty and student body, would like to dedicate this annual to Mr. Leo Saporito. This is done in recognition of his tremendous contributions both in the classroom and in extra- curricular activities - in particular the school news- pa per. 5 This annual is a pictorial history of our 1963-64 school year. There have been sad moments, trying moments, and gay moments that have filled this year with memories. In 1984, when you look back at these pictures, I hope that these memories will return to you. I would like to thank all those who helped with this yearbook and especially, Miss Abshire, the ad- visor. Kathleen Bordelon 6 SecflesuHteKct tt 8 'pniHCcfiaC Dear Seniors: For the past twelve years you have been studying the fundamental prin- ciples of our American system. You have learned that during its 174 years America has survived many severe crises. Each new generation will be faced with new problems to solve, some more critical than others. The survival of our American system will depend on how you, an alert American with an active mind, put in practice the basic principles you were taught during those formative years. You learned that the rights and privileges you now enjoy were earned and not given, and that laws imposed by the order of a few can never solve fundamental differences imbedded in the hearts and minds of the majority. You should study each problem carefully and not let your grievances over- shadow the many opportunities America has to offer. B. J. Bordelon 10 MR. DUNICE MEAUX FACULTY , ,, aux acuity MISS J. To the Principal and Faculty Members: The pleasure of being rid of us; restful nights and peaceful days. A collection of new and interesting alibis. Affection, gratitude, and many overdue Thank you's for individual services and favors. To the Junior Class: A collection of initials and other ingravings in the Senior Homerooms. Poise and dignity, which they sadly need. Opportunities on the athletic teams, debate teams and in all the other school organi- zations. All items which they may find in the desks we leave behind, including cuds of gum, pencil stubs, used spitballs, etc. If by chance they find anything of possible value it is not included in this bequest. To the Sophomores: The few traces of meekness and humility that we have left. They don't seem to have any so even a little should be welcome. A lot of good advice which we won't specify because they wouldn't follow it anyway. A bottle of smelling salts to help them recover from the shock of discovering that they don’t know as much as they think they do. To the Freshmen: All our dreams that didn't come true. The indescribable joys of giggling at nothing. The pleasures and pangs of puppy love. We aren't quite through with them but they’ll get them anyway. Besides these gifts we leave our blessing upon this school and its teachers and our pledge of friendship and loyalty in all the activities of the school. 38 JVMOPS Patricia Menard Reporter Susan Vincent Secretary Wade Mouton President Susan Faulk Vice President Connie Hebert Treasurer V 965 peiwyUtca.
