PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE In the midst of present economic and social changes that have resulted from tech- nological developments, we find that the demand for special trained and skilled grad- uates is ever increasing. No age has ever demanded more wisdom and more responsi- bilities than this one. As a student, you should concern yourself in the development of the skills or talents you possess and then utilize them in meeting the demands in this scientific and technological age. The survival of our country will depend largely on how well you as students take advantage of the opportunities offered in school to develop these skills and talents. You should try to excel in everyone of your undertakings and should not be satisfied with the ordinary. B. J. Bordelon, Principal

LOUISIANA January 23, 1961 Students, KipUn High School Kaplan, UnUUm Dear Friends: America's position in the world is now, more than it has ever been, in the hands of its youth. We have Just elected a very young president and he in turn selected a youthful cabinet to assist him in the guidance of our country. The influence of youth is dominating all areas of American endeavor. Indeed, the American economy Itself is becoming geared to a pattern of youthful management to a greater extent each year. Due to the fact that the student may now look forward to a position of responsibility within a much shorter period of time after graduation, it is becoming increasingly important each year that the American School System move forward in a program providing the most modern and effective teaching and it is indispensable that the program be developed and maintained on a cooperative basis requiring and receiving closer cooperation and the maximum effort on the part of the student. Very truly yours, G. J. LeDet, Superintendent Vermilion Parish Schools CJl lf
