The Kansas Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded on April 23rd, 1923. Sig Ep is the second largest fraternity in the country with over 235 active chapters. Kansas Gamma is a diverse house which stresses scholarship, campus activities, and social activities. Our all house GPA consistently ranks above the all men ' s and all fraternity average, with the men studying in almost every field imaginable ranging from electrical engineering to journalism to architecture. In addition to our scholarship, we are also very active in campus activities. Members of our house are involved in ROTC, IFC, Student Senate, ASK, plus various other university related activities. We also hold the Superteoms competition, our philanthropy, every April. All proceeds from this activity stay in Douglas County as we donate them to the Douglas County Mentally Retarded Youth Association. Outside of our serious work on grades and activities, Sig Ep has many social functions to round out the school year. These include our annual Bowery Brawl, Romp in the Hay, and our Luau party which is held on the last day of classes each year. We, the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon, pride ourselves on our balance of scholarship, activities, and social life as we feel that it is a balance of these three factors which help us to prepare ourselves for our years after we leave the hill. 285
