Griping about this. that and the other keeps the system alive and Experience may be our best teacher. but reform will bring the reward Today ' s topic deals with the Square Deal better known as the vicious circle of Course Requirements for (You fill in the blank.) Today ' s gripe deals with the no-credit ' requirements E. G. (for example): Music majors MUST attend Beaucoup hours each Which is all lin e and well and of course. as it should be— but many hours with zero credit? E. G. (for Freshmen MUST lake physical education two Which is all fine and well and of course. as it should be— but why just freshmen? After these two semesters. are we physically fit for what ' s left of four years? Cherri-O! And again beaucoup hours with zero credit. Today ' s complaint deals with (?) field trips paper E. G. (for example) • student teaching for education. Perhaps experience IS our Will this practice come closer to home in the near future? Or will out future-teachers still go traipsing across country to each and every school • to practice? E. G. (for exakple ) Theses for mister ' s candidates. How is it later applied? Constructive and logical thinking can be applied through other various and assorted channels. The same is true of comprehensives .• for English majors. New methods? New procedures? Explore on change it all. Even if we come back to the old ways ... EXPERIENCE is our best guide. Thus. we learn about this. that and the other. Today ' s gripes and complaints have been brdught to you by one who objects to the theory: the old way is good to teachers palming off guesses as demonstrated truths. You can ' t be that set in your ways.
