Upon each of them comes the challenge of a Kaleidoscope of demands and interest. And with each challenge a need is met for everyone of us. As teen-agers we have known the over-powering pull of their royal loveg sensed the tenderness of their affectiong blushed at the evidence of their prideg shuddered at the impact of their seldom given discipline...only to see it erased once again by a seeming failure of frustration in meeting our demands. They have skimped and saved to purchase that too expensive formal for the Spring Banquetg prayed with mingled emotion as we took our driving test..and passedg gave encouragement as we practiced our trumpet hours upon hours for the talent contestg cried softly as we marched across the platform at graduation to receive our diploma. This is mother. without her, high school wouldn't be the same. Thus we have chosen two mothers...equal in their dedication to Christ and their children. To Vidy Metsker for eighteen years of marriage to Youth for Christ through its trouble and its triumphsg to Leona Hocklander for eight years of service in the daily giving of her time in the office to win Youth for Christ. To both of these...and to the thousands they represent...we humbly dedicate this Kaleidoscope of memories...the i962 CONQUEROR. ' for Th' rung marks the third' Yea' Leonard'2od3zrs on the Youth for Christ staff. Under Leonard'S C5Pable leadership the Junior Hi9h department of the club staff has grown from bits of 91355 into a Set pattern.0f success. Leonard, who received the Junior High club director's award from Youth fOr Christ International, has not been content to rest upon past laurels but has worked hard to make his clubs effective for God. Because of this added effort Leonard is now reco9Q'Zed.a5 one of the experts in the field of Junior Hugh club development. Clk llick Hatfield An experiment was tried this year .... and proved successful. And to Dick Hatfield, Senior high director, goes much of the credit. This product of Kansas City took full responsibility of the twenty-seven Senior high clubs. The first semester seventeen volunteer college men worked under his direction. Three men were then selected to continue their club leadership on a part-time basis. It was at this time that the new HTarget Clubu program was launched by Dick and his assistants. Even the book now being read is a tribute to Dick's ability to lead teen-agers as well as men. Without a doubt this has been one of the most fruitful and building years because of this man's determination and dedication to Christ and His teens. yea Pal Tol to de Hi hi fr CN ef Bi hi t Bob Pahner A native son returned to Kansas City this year to direct the music department. Bob Palmer is his name. Bob, who served in Toledo, Ohio as a club director, came back to town to add a bit of color to the music department and to assist in Senior High clubs. His likeable personality has not only gained him old acquaintances but also ,many new friends. The future ministry of Youth for Christ music has been brightened by the efforts and standards of this young man. ir ctors BHI Bnerop The teen-agers in Kansas City had a unique experience when Bill Boerop came from Europe for further training in the field Of youth evangelism. After several months this Dutchman with his unusual personality, was faced with the task of directing five Clubs- Bill met the situation head-on and found the answers to many problems that had confronted him in Europe. This school year, which BTH and his family spent here, will 'Ong be remembered by all for its trials and its triumphs in winning teen-agers to ChriSt. Albert lane Eleven years ago a gentleman came to Kansas City and stayed. The hearts of teenagers and adults alike have been enriched because of K. C.'s HMr. Music.H Albert Lane has often been referred to as the keeper of the eighty eight. For across those eighty eight keys night after night, week after week, and year after year, have flown fingers and a heart dedicated to the glory of God. His music is different. His music is contemporary in its approach, but through every note Jesus Christ is exalted. His musical counsel to teenagers has started many on the road to success. His reverant reading of the word of God for the Youth for Christ Hour has sent many teens off to school with a realization that all things are possible with God. E555 .,, 1- lack Cousins Everyone's friendg that is Jack Cousins. In this man is mirrored the self-lessness of the Christ whom he serves. The teenagers in Kansas City know that it is Jack Cousins who makes many of the arrangements for the speakers and special talent which appear in our rally week after week. This friend of the pastor gives tirelessly of himself in 5?tt'n9 UP evangelistic meetings, Buble conferences, and film showings God has given in the past and will Qiye in the future much blessing to this man who goes out of his way to promote others. . r ' 'V f 315- ,-Lftwfliffes-1 leuna Hucklander One of the largest tasks which challenges Leona Hocklander, is that of bookkeeping. The multiplicity of jobs which surround this responsibility are handled efficiently and carefully day after day. Thousands of names and facts, after forgotten by other staff members, are remembered by Leona. The accomplishments built up throuqh eight years of association make Leona a valued member of the staff. Ioe Jeffers An unprecedented award came to Kansas City YFC- mainly due to the tireless efforts of Joe Jeffers. This award was presented by Youth for Christ International for excellence in rally promotion - which includes the Conquest and Conqueror, plus rally publicity - all of which are printed by Joe in our print shop: To many this is just a job. Marge Palmer, since her high school days has always wanted to work on the Youth for Christ staff. In January this dream became a reality.
