V' 'I 1 TRACK Herb Prater was the best man in 100, 220, and 440. He has trained consistently and shown a great deal of interest in the team. Dick', Whittaker was the high jumper and ran the 440, Kirk Rand, distance runner, doing the mile and half mile. Herron showed up Well in the 440, half mile, and 50 yards. Davis, captain, was the heavy man, throwing shot, and running the mile, and, 440. Theyteam has entered the K. During the summer of 1925 taught swimming at the Univers- ity of Colorado. For the past two years, 1925-26 lVliss Hill has been employed in the phys- ical education department at Bethany College, at Lindsborg, L Kansas. Through Miss Hill's efforts a lively interest has been created this year in gymnasium floor E work, swimming, and the vari- C C ous other sports. p Girls' Basket Ball as an inter-school competitive sport, was discontinued in the Junior College this year. ln making this move the Junior College follows the lead of practically every College in. the State. I Under the plan substituted this year a large number of girls were able to learn the game of basket ball and to take part in actual competition. About 80 girls took part in a preliminary tourna- ment at the beginning of the season. From these players a first and second team was picked for participation in the High School Class tournament. Competition was keen and some good garnes resulted. l Two games with the Night School Girls Team result- Xed in Junior College victories. A maximum of 150 points toward an athletic letter, may be earned in Basket Ball. Points are given for coming out for prac- tice, playing in the preliininarytournainent, making first or second team, playing in required number of games, and for passing the skill test in basket ball which is given at the close of the season.
